Second Stage Round 8: CSU Sibiu - Oradea 93-92

The most exciting game of round 8 in the Liga Nationala took place in Sibiu. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 4th ranked Oradea (21-10) to first ranked CSU Sibiu (24-7) 93-92 on Saturday evening. The hosts trailed by 15 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 1 point. CSU Sibiu outrebounded Oradea 40-21 including a 18-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. American point guard Tyler Laser (185-88, college: E.Illinois) saved the victory by scoring 32 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. The other American import forward Lawrence Kinnard (203-86, college: UAB) contributed with 17 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Lithuanian point guard Vaidas Kariniauskas (197-93) replied with 20 points and 6 assists and American guard Kris Richard (196-89, college: Tulane, agency: KMG Sports Management) added 19 points in the effort for Oradea. Five Oradea players scored in double figures. CSU Sibiu maintains first position in Nationala with 24-7 record. Oradea at the other side keeps the fourth place with ten games lost. CSU Sibiu are looking forward to face BC Timisoara (#5) on the road in the next round. Oradea will play against UBT Cluj Napoca and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
