Regular Season Round 31: Giessen 46ers - Goettingen 102-111

There was a surprise result when fifteenth ranked BG Goettingen (9-20) defeated on the road higher ranked Giessen 46ers (15-16) 111-102 on Sunday. BG Goettingen made 19-of-22 free shots (86.4 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 52.2 percentage. BG Goettingen looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Giessen 46ers were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for American point guard Michael Stockton (185-89, college: Westminster, UT) who led his team to a victory scoring 27 points and 6 assists (made all of his eight free throws). Australian swingman Mitch Creek (195-92) helped adding 23 points. At the losing side American center John Bryant (210-87, college: Santa Clara) responded with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 12 rebounds and forward Benjamin Lischka (204-89) scored 13 points and 8 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. BG Goettingen maintains fifteenth place with 9-20 record. Loser Giessen 46ers keep the tenth position with 16 games lost. BG Goettingen will face higher ranked EWE Baskets (#6) in Oldenburg in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
