Regular Season Round 31: EWE Baskets - MBC 86-84

Fourteenth-ranked Mitteldeutscher BC (10-21) gave a tough game to seventh ranked EWE Baskets (19-12) in Oldenburg on Sunday. EWE Baskets managed to secure only two-point victory 86-84. However their fans expected much easier game. Mitteldeutscher BC was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for Austrian-Slovenian center Rasid Mahalbasic (210-90, agency: BeoBasket) who led his team to a victory scoring 25 points and 7 rebounds. American swingman Rickey Paulding (196-82, college: Missouri) helped adding 13 points and 5 rebounds. Four EWE Baskets players scored in double figures. At the losing side American guard Andrew Warren (196-87, college: Bradley) responded with 24 points (made all of his eight free throws) and Serbian swingman Djordje Drenovac (201-92) scored 18 points. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. EWE Baskets moved-up to sixth place. Newly promoted Mitteldeutscher BC keeps the fourteenth position with 21 games lost. EWE Baskets will face BG Goettingen (#15) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Mitteldeutscher BC will play against BBC Bayreuth and hope to win that game.
