Regular Season Round 31: Wuerzburg - Telekom Bsk 80-78

A very interesting game took place in Wuerzburg. It ended with only two-point defeat on the road of higher ranked Telekom Baskets (19-11) to ninth ranked s Oliver Baskets (17-14) 80-78 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Telekom Baskets. s Oliver Baskets made 24-of-29 charity shots (82.8 percent) during the game. 24 personal fouls committed by Telekom Baskets helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of Canadian power forward Owen Klassen (208-91, college: Acadia) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 6 rebounds (made all of his nine free throws !!!). The former international point guard Maurice Stuckey (187-90) contributed with 16 points and 5 assists for the winners. Naturalized Cuban swingman Yorman-Polas Bartolo (192-85) answered with 13 points (made all of his ten free throws !!!) and Croatian power forward Tomislav Zubcic (208-90) added 17 points in the effort for Telekom Baskets. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for s Oliver Baskets. They maintain ninth place with 17-14 record. Telekom Baskets at the other side keep the fifth position with 11 games lost. s Oliver Baskets' next round opponent will be higher ranked EnBW Ludwigsburg (#3) on the road and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Telekom Baskets will play against Braunschweig and hope to win that game.
