Regular Season Round 31: Braunschweig - ALBA 62-72
Date: April 22, 2018
Not a big story in a game when 12th ranked Braunschweig (13-18) was defeated at home by second ranked ALBA Berlin (27-4) 72-62 on Sunday. ALBA Berlin made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Braunschweig turnovers and outrebounded them 41-26 including 29 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for American forward Luke Sikma (203-89, college: Portland) who led his team to a victory scoring 25 points and 6 rebounds. The former international center Bogdan Radosavljevic (213-93) helped adding 13 points and 10 rebounds. At the losing side American power forward Scott Eatherton (203-91, college: Northeastern, agency: BeoBasket) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds and Austrian point guard Thomas Klepeisz (186-91) scored 7 points, 8 assists and 4 steals. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the seventeenth consecutive win for ALBA Berlin. They maintain second place with 27-4 record behind leader B.Muenchen. Loser Braunschweig keeps the twelfth position with 18 games lost. ALBA Berlin will face Deutsche Bank Skyliners (#8) in Frankfurt in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Braunschweig will play on the road against Telekom Baskets (#5) in Bonn and hope to win that game.
