Very important is a road loss of second ranked Steaua CSM (22-10) against sixth ranked Pitesti (15-17) on Wednesday night. Visiting Steaua CSM was defeated by Pitesti in a tough game in Pitesti 69-77. Steaua CSM was ahead by 2 points after three quarters before a 25-15 charge of Pitesti, which allowed them to win the game. They made 22-of-23 charity shots (95.7 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. American players dominated the game. Guard Nick Russell (193-91, college: SMU) stepped up and scored 22 points (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winners and guard Porter Troupe (196-83, college: Portland, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 11 points and 4 assists. Four Steaua CSM players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Pitesti maintains sixth place in Nationala with 15-17 record. Steaua CSM at the other side keeps the second position with ten games lost. Pitesti will play against higher ranked BC Timisoara (#5) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Steaua CSM will play against Oradea and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
