We should mention about the upset which took place in Istanbul, where higher ranked Istanbulgucu (11-19) lost at home to sixteenth ranked Yalova Vip (7-23) 58-68 on Saturday. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Istanbulgucu. Yalova Vip dominated down low during the game scoring 42 of its points in the paint compared to Istanbulgucu's 14. American forward Corinne Costa (193-92, college: UCLA) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds for the winners and Gulizar Sezer (-78, agency: 1andBox Sports Agency) chipped in 14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. The best for the losing side was forward Belgin Onbasi (177-82) with 13 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and Sevda Tuncluer (-88) scored 11 points and 8 rebounds. Yalova Vip moved-up to fifteenth place, which they share with Fenerbahce G. Loser Istanbulgucu keeps the eleventh position with 19 games lost. Yalova Vip will meet at home higher ranked Bayrakli (#9) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Istanbulgucu will play against Mersin MBK where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
