Second Stage Round 12: KK Primorska - Olimpija 71-78

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Koper. First ranked Olimpija faced second-best KK Primorska. Guests from Ljubljana (10-2) defeated host KK Primorska (8-4) 78-71. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 78-71. Olimpija made 21-of-27 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. Olimpija outrebounded KK Primorska 38-22 including a 28-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of Australian guard Mitchell McCarron (191-92, college: Metro St.) who helped to win the game recording 23 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and American Devin Oliver (204-92, college: Dayton) who added 20 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was international Tadej Ferme (187-91, agency: PEPI SPORT) with 27 points and Croatian center Marijan Cakarun (204-90, agency: PEPI SPORT) scored 16 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Olimpija have an impressive five-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 10-2 record. Loser KK Primorska keeps the second place with four games lost. Olimpija will meet Rogaska (#4) in the next round. KK Primorska will play against Tajfun in Sentjur and hope to secure a win.
