Second Stage Round 10: Steaua CSM - Oradea 62-72

Very significant was Oradea's (#4) 72-62 road victory against much higher ranked Steaua CSM in Nationala. The game was mostly controlled by Oradea. Steaua CSM was better in second period 21-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Oradea won last quarter 25-16. Steaua CSM was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American guard Kris Richard (196-89, college: Tulane, agency: KMG Sports Management) notched 11 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort and the former international center Bogdan Tibirna (210-91) supported him with 17 points and 5 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Richard is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Even a double-double of 10 points and 15 rebounds by American power forward Randal Falker (201-85, college: S.Illinois) did not help to save the game for Steaua CSM. His fellow American import point guard Brandon Taylor (178-94, college: Utah) added 20 points for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Oradea (23-10) moved-up to third place in Nationala. Steaua CSM at the other side dropped to the fourth position with 11 games lost.
