Regular Season Round 33: Juventus - Siauliai 93-90

The most exciting game of round 33 in the LKL took place in Utena. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 5th ranked Siauliai (16-20) to seventh ranked Juventus (13-22) 93-90 on Thursday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Siauliai. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Siauliai won third quarter 22-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Juventus won last quarter 25-24. They made 25-of-29 free shots (86.2 percent) during the game. 25 personal fouls committed by Siauliai helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was guard Dovis Bickauskis (191-93, agency: Octagon Europe) who scored 20 points and 6 assists. Center Mindaugas Kupsas (217-91, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 18 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). At the other side the best for losing team was power forward Arminas Urbutis (206-86, college: Hofstra, agency: Octagon Europe) who recorded 24 points and international power forward Laurynas Birutis (213-97) added 14 points and 9 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Siauliai's coach Antanas Sireika tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Juventus maintains seventh place with 13-22 record. Siauliai at the other side keeps the fifth position with 20 games lost. Juventus are looking forward to face league's second-placed Zalgiris in Kaunas in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Siauliai will have a break next round.
