An interesting game took place in Karsiyaka where higher ranked Sakarya BSB (14-14) was upset on the court of eleventh ranked Pinar Karsiyaka (11-17) 88-80 on Friday. Pinar Karsiyaka made 31-of-40 free shots (77.5 percent) during the game, while Sakarya BSB only scored thirteen points from the stripe. Sakarya BSB was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman DJ Kennedy (198-89, college: St.John's) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists and the other American import point guard Dominic Waters (185-86, college: Portland St., agency: Octagon Europe) who added 17 points and 4 assists during the contest. Pinar Karsiyaka's coach Aleksandar Trifunovic allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the losing side American point guard Lazeric Jones (182-90, college: UCLA) responded with 17 points and 6 assists and Serbian power forward Nikola Jankovic (207-94, agency: BeoBasket) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Pinar Karsiyaka moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Istanbul BBSK. Newly promoted Sakarya BSB dropped to the eighth position with 14 games lost. Pinar Karsiyaka will face Istanbul BBSK (#11) on the road in the next round.
