Second Stage Round 7: FMP - Partizan NIS 87-82

Round 7 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Partizan (6-1). They were defeated by second ranked FMP (6-1) 87-82 on Monday night. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Partizan. It was a key game for the top position in Group B. Partizan trailed by 17 points after 3 quarters before a 34-22 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 82-87 at the end of the game. FMP dominated on the defensive end, holding Partizan to just 4 points in second quarter. They made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Partizan 40-23 including 25 on the defensive glass. FMP looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. 26 personal fouls committed by Partizan helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a great evening for Nigerian center Michael Ojo (216-93, college: Florida St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 17 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Guard Nemanja Nenadic (197-94) helped adding 16 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Four FMP players scored in double figures. At the losing side the former international center Djordje Gagic (210-90, agency: BeoBasket) responded with 25 points and 7 rebounds and American guard Nigel Williams-Goss (191-94, college: Gonzaga) scored 18 points and 8 assists. Partizan's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. FMP have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They keep a position of Group B leader, which they share with Partizan NIS. Partizan will play next round against strong Dynamic BG trying to make it back to the top of the standings. It will be a derby game for which supporters look forward to, where their team will face at home their local rival from Beograd - Dynamic BG. FMP will try to continue on its current victory against sixth ranked Vojvodina NS in Novi Sad.
