Regular Season Round 30: Galatasaray - Anadolu Efes 85-91
Date: May 12, 2018
Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Istanbul: Anadolu Efes (#3) and Galatasaray (#9). Despite it looked like an easy game for Anadolu Efes, those rules do not exist in derby games. It's more the case of honor for local supporters and such games have that special and unique approach you cannot find in other games. Host Galatasaray challenged much higher ranked Anadolu Efes giving them a very tough game, but finally losing it by six points 91-85. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Galatasaray. Anadolu Efes players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists. The best player for the winners was American Derrick Brown (203-87, college: Xavier) who scored 22 points and 4 assists. Croatian swingman Krunoslav Simon (197-85) chipped in 18 points and 4 assists. Anadolu Efes' coach Ergin Ataman allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American-FYR Macedonian center Richard Hendrix (203-86, college: Alabama, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) who recorded 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international Goksenin Koksal (195-91) added 19 points respectively. Five Galatasaray players scored in double figures. Anadolu Efes maintains third position with 22-8 record having three points less than leader Fenerbahce. Galatasaray at the other side keeps the ninth place with 17 games lost.
