But Uni Baskets were not able to use a home court advantage and were crushed by the opponent from Schalke 81-59 on Saturday night. Schalke outrebounded Uni Baskets 51-26 including a 30-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Center Adam Touray (208-94) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds for the winners and American guard Courtney Belger (187-89, college: Quincy) chipped in 19 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Schalke players scored in double figures. Schalke's coach Raphael Wilder felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side power forward Ivan Buntic (208-91) responded with 8 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists and American guard Grant Benzinger (190-96, college: Wright St.) scored 11 points and 5 rebounds. Schalke will meet at home Nuernberg (#9) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Uni Baskets will play against MLP Academics Heidelberg (#13) and hope to win that game.
