ALBA Berlin smashed Science City Jena at home 112-55. ALBA Berlin dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Science City Jena's 28. ALBA Berlin forced 26 Science City Jena turnovers and outrebounded them 39-23 including 26 on the defensive glass. They shot the lights out from three sinking 17 long-distance shots on high 53.1 percentage. ALBA Berlin looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Science City Jena's players. American forward Luke Sikma (202-89, college: Portland) fired 14 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Lithuanian Rokas Giedraitis (201-92) chipped in 20 points (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!). Five ALBA Berlin players scored in double figures. American forward Derrick Allen (201-80, college: Mississippi) produced 14 points and the other American import point guard Dru Joyce (185-85, college: Akron) added 7 points and 7 assists respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Science City Jena will play next round against strong BBC Bayreuth trying to get back on the winning streak. ALBA Berlin will try to continue on its current victory against EWE Baskets in Oldenburg.
