An interesting game where EWE Baskets (#7) crushed host Braunschweig (#5) with 36-point difference 100-64 on Saturday evening. EWE Baskets dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Braunschweig's 34. American point guard Will Cummings (188-92, college: Temple) stepped up and scored 25 points and 4 assists for the winners and Austrian-Slovenian center Rasid Mahalbasic (210-90, agency: BeoBasket) chipped in 15 points and 7 rebounds. Five EWE Baskets players scored in double figures. At the losing side American guard DeAndre Lansdowne (188-89, college: Fort Lewis, agency: BeoBasket) responded with 20 points (made all of his eight free throws) and the other American import power forward Scott Eatherton (206-91, college: Northeastern, agency: BeoBasket) scored 15 points and 6 rebounds. Braunschweig's coach Frank Menz gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. EWE Baskets will meet at home ALBA Berlin in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Braunschweig will play against Telekom Baskets (#9) in Bonn and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
