Regular Season Round 2: Wolfpack/BMS - Vaerlose 95-86

The biggest surprise of round 2 in BasketLigaen took place in Skovlunde where host BMS Skovlunde (1-1) beat Vaerlose (0-1) 95-86 on Saturday evening. Vaerlose trailed by 19 points after 3 quarters before a 31-21 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 86-95 at the end of the game. BMS Skovlunde made 29-of-37 free shots (78.4 percent) during the game, while Vaerlose only scored thirteen points from the stripe. BMS Skovlunde had a 32-18 advantage in offensive rebounds. 29 personal fouls committed by Vaerlose helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American center Deionte Simmons (205-96, college: Chicago St.) who scored 21 points and 6 rebounds. Guard Oliver Stroh (192-94, college: Shippensburg) chipped in 13 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Four BMS Skovlunde players scored in double figures. American forward Richard Granberry (203-93, college: Virginia St.) produced 20 points and 8 rebounds and guard Asbjorn Nerlov (197-98) added 15 points and 5 assists respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Vaerlose will play next round against strong Naestved trying to make it back to the top of the standings. BMS Skovlunde will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
