Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Istanbul: Fenerbahce (#7) and Besiktas (#4). Fenerbahce (1-0) won against visiting Besiktas (0-1) 78-73. Worth to mention a great performance of Italian Nicolo Melli (205-91) who helped to win the game recording 14 points and 9 rebounds. Greek point guard Konstantinos Sloukas (197-90) contributed with 16 points and 4 assists for the winners. The former international point guard Kenan Sipahi (197-95) answered with 13 points and 4 assists and American swingman Kyle Gibson (196-87, college: Louisiana Tech) added 14 points in the effort for Besiktas. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Besiktas' coach Dusko Ivanovic tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Fenerbahce's next round opponent will be Turk Telekom (#7) in Ankara which should be theoretically an easy game. Besiktas will play at home against Pinar Karsiyaka and hope to win that game.
