There was a small surprise when ninth ranked Bamberg (2-2) won against at home 7th ranked Rosenheim (1-2) 80-71 on Sunday. Bamberg made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Bamberg made 9 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Robert Ferguson (203-85, college: St.Joseph's) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points, 15 rebounds, 5 assists and 7 blocks and point guard Kevin Eichelsdoerfer (187-92) who added 21 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Four Bamberg players scored in double figures. At the losing side Lithuanian forward Osvaldas Gaizauskas (201-91, college: Ohio Valley) responded with 21 points and 5 rebounds and American point guard Jguwon Hogges (173-86, college: Oregon Tech) scored 11 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Bamberg moved-up to fifth place in South-East, which they share with Herzogenaurach and Vilsbiburg. Loser Rosenheim dropped to the eighth position with two games lost. Bamberg will face higher ranked Topstar (#4) in Diedorf in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Rosenheim will play at home against Schwabing (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
