Regular Season Round 1: Dynamo-NPU - Chaika 88-66

Not a big story in a game in Kyiv where Chaika (0-2) was rolled over by Dynamo-NPU (2-0) 88-66 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Dynamo-NPU. Chaika was better in third quarter 24-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 26-of-34 free shots (76.5 percent) during the game. Dynamo-NPU forced 20 Chaika turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Center Oksana Piantak (205-96, agency: LBM Management) stepped up and scored 17 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and American guard Andreona Keys (178-95, college: Purdue) chipped in 14 points and 9 rebounds. Keys is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Dynamo-NPU players scored in double figures. Dynamo-NPU's coach felt very confident using 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side the former international forward Olexandra Radulovich-Kurasova (186-86) responded with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 14 rebounds and the former international swingman Iryna Tsekova (178-78) scored 13 points and 4 assists. Dynamo-NPU will face BK Rivne (#5) on the road in the next round. Chaika will play against SBK Lviv (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
