There was a surprise result when fourteenth ranked Westerstede (1-4) edged at home higher ranked Cuxhaven (3-3) 78-76 on Saturday. Point guard Jacob Hollatz (191-98) stepped up and scored 20 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals for the winners and Marcello Schroeder (195-87) chipped in 20 points and 6 rebounds. American guard Jordan Rezendes (188-92, college: Mass.-Dartmouth) responded with 25 points and 4 assists and Croatian guard Tomislav Gabric (198-91, college: Ft.Hays State) scored 15 points. Westerstede left bottom position moving up to twelfth place in North, which they share with ALBA Berlin II and Vechta II. Loser Cuxhaven keeps the seventh position with three games lost. Westerstede will face ETV (#15) in Hamburg in the next round.
