Date: October 13, 2018
There was no surprise when bottom-ranked Dragons Rhoendorf (0-4) lost at home to top-ranked Bayer Giants (4-0) 84-68 on Saturday. Bayer Giants forced 19 Dragons Rhoendorf turnovers. Quite impressive performance for swingman Tim Schoenborn (193-90) who helped to win the game recording 21 points. Lithuanian center Zygimantas Riauka (205-93, college: Wisc.-Parkside) replied with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists (on 11-of-11 shooting from the field) and Slovakian point guard Samuel Horvath (185-1) added 8 points and 5 assists in the effort for Dragons Rhoendorf. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Bayer Giants have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position in South with 4-0 record, which they share with Schwenningen and Fraport SKY II. Loser Dragons Rhoendorf still closes the standings with four games lost. Bayer Giants will face Koeln Rh.Stars (#10) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Dragons Rhoendorf will play against Loewen in Erfurt and hopes to get finally their first victory.
