Very important is a home loss of second ranked Don Bosco Bamberg (1-1) against top-ranked BasCats Heidelberg (1-0) on Saturday night. Host Don Bosco Bamberg was crushed by BasCats Heidelberg in Bamberg 92-71. BasCats Heidelberg outrebounded Don Bosco Bamberg 51-38 including a 19-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Pele Gianotti (180-95, college: Cal-Davis) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import forward Olivia Nash (185-94, college: Oakland) who added 12 points and 13 rebounds during the contest. Four BasCats Heidelberg players scored in double figures. At the losing side American guard DaJonee Hale (173-94, college: Cent.Methodist) responded with 24 points and 8 rebounds and Serbian Branka Lukovic (188-95) produced a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. BasCats Heidelberg left bottom position moving up to third place in South. Loser Don Bosco Bamberg dropped to the fourth position with one game lost. They share it with Wuerzburg. BasCats Heidelberg will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Don Bosco Bamberg will play against the league's second-placed Rhein Main Baskets (#2) in Langen and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
