Regular Season Round 2: Bahcesehir - Galatasaray 83-78
Date: October 13, 2018
Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Istanbul: Acibadem (#2) and Galatasaray (#13). Despite it looked like an easy game for Acibadem, those rules do not exist in derby games. It's more the case of honor for local supporters and such games have that special and unique approach you cannot find in other games. Guest Galatasaray challenged much higher ranked Acibadem giving them a very tough game, but finally losing it by five points 83-78. Acibadem players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. 27 personal fouls committed by Galatasaray helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Spanish point guard Joaquin Colom (188-88, college: Forca Lleida, agency: Interperformances) notched 26 points and 6 assists to lead the effort and the former international swingman Emir Preldzic (206-87, agency: BeoBasket) supported him with 9 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Even 19 points by American Aaron Harrison (198-94, college: Kentucky) did not help to save the game for Galatasaray. Greek-American center Zach Auguste (208-93, college: Notre Dame, agency: Pensack Sports) added 7 points and 11 rebounds for the guests. Galatasaray's coach Ertugrul Erdogan tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Acibadem's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Istanbul to the arena Darussafaka.
