An interesting game where Istanbulgucu (#6) beat host Akdeniz U. (#3) 68-58 on Saturday evening. They outrebounded Akdeniz U. 48-31 including a 37-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. American center Tearra Banks (188-95, college: Austin Peay St.) had a double-double by scoring 30 points and 15 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and point guard Yagmur Bul (164-96) chipped in 7 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists during the contest. Center Basak Altunbey (189-96) responded with 10 points and 6 rebounds and forward Belgin Onbasi (177-82) scored 9 points and 4 steals. Akdeniz U.'s coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Istanbulgucu will meet at home Istanbul U.G (#12) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Akdeniz U. will play against Ordu IEF (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
