Regular Season Round 5: Rosenheim - Schwabing 75-96

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both ninth ranked Schwabing and 8th ranked Rosenheim had identical 1-2 record. But Rosenheim was not able to use a home court advantage and was crushed by the opponent from Schwabing 96-75 on Saturday night. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Schwabing made 7 blocks. Guard Joshua Obiesie (197-0) stepped up and scored 24 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners and center Marco Lachmann (205-91) chipped in 25 points. Lithuanian forward Osvaldas Gaizauskas (201-91, college: Ohio Valley) responded with 28 points and 8 rebounds and naturalized Albanian guard Shkelzen Bekteshi (185-91) scored 14 points and 4 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Schwabing (2-2) moved-up to seventh place in South-East. Rosenheim lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the tenth position with three games lost. Schwabing will face league's second-placed Topstar in Diedorf in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Rosenheim will play on the road against the league's leader Oberhaching (#1) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
