Regular Season Round 1: Dynamo-NPU - Kozachka-KPU 80-47

Very expected game in Kyiv where Kozachka-KPU (1-3) was crushed by Dynamo-NPU (2-0) 80-47 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Dynamo-NPU. Kozachka-KPU was better in fourth quarter 22-8. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Kozachka-KPU to just 5 points in second quarter. Dynamo-NPU held Kozachka-KPU to an opponent 22.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 46.0 percent accuracy of the winners. Dynamo-NPU forced 20 Kozachka-KPU turnovers and outrebounded them 48-26 including a 35-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Dynamo-NPU looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Kozachka-KPU's players. American guard Andreona Keys (178-95, college: Purdue) stepped up and scored 20 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winners and Moroccan Franeka Hall chipped in 16 points and 8 rebounds. Keys is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the losing side point guard Viktoriya Kovalevska (170-99) responded with 7 points and 6 rebounds and forward Ksenia Pankina (178-2) scored 8 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Dynamo-NPU will face BK Rivne (#5) on the road in the next round. Kozachka-KPU will play against Frankivsk and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
