Regular Season Round 4: Schalke - Art.Dragons 89-52

Round 4 in ProA means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Schalke where host Schalke (2-2) crushed league's leader Artland Dragons (3-1) 89-52 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Artland Dragons. Schalke made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American guard Courtney Belger (187-89, college: Quincy) fired 16 points and 5 assists for the winners. Center Bjoern Rohwer (213-95) chipped in 12 points and 8 rebounds. Four Schalke players scored in double figures. Forward Paul Albrecht (205-93) produced 6 points and 11 rebounds and American guard Pierre Bland (188-92, college: PFW) added 14 points (made all of his seven free throws) respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Schalke moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Artland Dragons at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the second position with one game lost. They share it with Trier and Hamburg. They were replaced at the leadership position by Chemnitz. Artland Dragons will play next round against strong Gladiators trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Schalke will try to continue on its current victory against thirteenth ranked Phoenix Hagen on the road.
