Regular Season Round 4: Weiterstadt - Schwabach 53-80

Schwabach can celebrate their first win this season after two consecutive losses. The victory is especially important as it came on the road game in Weiterstadt, where they outplayed Weiterstadt (0-1) 80-53. Schwabach forced 22 Weiterstadt turnovers. The winners were led by American guard Brooke LeMar (168-91, college: N.Dakota St.) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 22 points, 6 rebounds and 12 assists and forward Lea Vatthauer (184-90) supported her with 18 points and 5 rebounds. Even 16 points and 6 assists (made all of her eight free throws) by forward Saskia Giesselbach (174) did not help to save the game for Weiterstadt. Guard Christina Krick (169) added 11 points and 10 rebounds for lost side. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Schwabach (1-2) left bottom position moving up to sixth place in South, which they share with Speyer and Ludwigsburg. Weiterstadt at the other side still closes the standings with one game lost. Schwabach's next round opponent will be higher ranked Ladybaskets Wuerzburg (#5) at home and it may be quite challenging game. Weiterstadt will play against the league's leader Jahn Muenchen (#1) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
