Regular Season Round 2: Politekhnik - Khimik 61-99

Another exciting game was played in Kharkiv between Khimik and Politekhnik where Khimik (1-2) crushed Politekhnik (0-3) on the road with 38-point difference 99-61. The game without a history. Khimik led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Politekhnik's 34. They outrebounded Politekhnik 48-21 including a 36-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Khimik players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Sergiy Pavlov (205-97) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds. American forward Christian Jones (201-93, college: UNLV, agency: BeoBasket) contributed with 15 points and 9 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winners. Four Khimik players scored in double figures. American guard Gokul Natesan (196-94, college: Colorado Mines, agency: Haylett Sports) replied with 20 points and guard Roman Kozlov (190-90) added 10 points and 4 assists in the effort for Politekhnik. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Khimik will play against Kyiv Basket at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Politekhnik will play against Mykolaiv (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
