There was a small surprise when eighth ranked Giessen 46ers II (2-2) beat at home 5th ranked OrangeAcademy (2-2) 86-74 on Sunday. Giessen 46ers II shot 64.0 percent from the field. They also forced 21 OrangeAcademy turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Quite impressive performance for the former international Johannes Lischka (203-87) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 5 rebounds (on 11-of-12 shooting from the field). American guard Adam Klie (193-95, college: Cal-San Diego) contributed with 9 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Four Giessen 46ers II players scored in double figures. Power forward Nils Mittmann (201-79) replied with 17 points and naturalized Austrian guard Timo Lanmueller (193-1) added 14 points and 4 assists in the effort for OrangeAcademy. OrangeAcademy's coach Daniel Jansson let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Giessen 46ers II moved-up to fifth place in South, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated OrangeAcademy. Giessen 46ers II will face Wuerzburg (#7) on the road in the next round. OrangeAcademy will play against Coburg and hope to win that game and get promotion back to the ProA just one year after relegation.
