Very predictable result when sixth ranked Herzogenaurach (3-2) defeated at home 13th ranked Goldbach (1-4) 79-61 on Sunday. Herzogenaurach dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Goldbach's 32. Forward Patrick Horstmann (201-87, college: Keiser) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners and Austrian swingman Michael Kaiser (195-82) chipped in 25 points (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Four Herzogenaurach players scored in double figures. Herzogenaurach's coach Nikola Jocic allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. British Jermaine Mellis (197) responded with 25 points and 7 rebounds and Leonard Sattler (192-97) scored 12 points and 8 rebounds. The victory was the third consecutive win for Herzogenaurach. They moved-up to fourth place in South-East, which they share with Ansbach and Vilsbiburg. Goldbach lost their fourth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the thirteenth position with four games lost. Herzogenaurach will face Jena II (#14) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Goldbach will play against Treuchtlingen and hope to win that game.
