Regular Season Round 2: Cherkasy - Zaporizhye 88-91

A very close game took place in Cherkasy between Zaporizhye and Cherkasy. Zaporizhye (2-1) got a very close victory on the road over Cherkasy (1-1). Zaporizhye managed to escape with a 3-point win 91-88 on Sunday evening. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 31-23. But Cherkasy won second period 18-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Zaporizhye made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. The game was dominated by American players. Guard Mike Holton-Jr (185-90, college: St.Michael's) scored 36 points (!!!) to lead the charge for the winners and guard Malique Trent (189-94, college: Hampton) chipped in 24 points during the contest. Guard Brandon Young (193-91, college: De Paul) responded with 20 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Chris Cokley (203-96, college: UAB, agency: Interperformances) scored 20 points and 7 rebounds. Five Cherkasy players scored in double figures. Cherkasy's coach Maksym Mikhelson rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Zaporizhye will meet at home Dnipro in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Cherkasy will play against Odessa (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
