Regular Season Round 2: Helios Suns - Krka 65-77

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Helios Suns (1-1) in Domzale on Thursday night. Hosts were defeated by Krka (2-0) 77-65. The game was mostly controlled by Krka. Helios Suns managed to win second period 22-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Krka dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Helios Suns' 22. They outrebounded Helios Suns 38-24 including 29 on the defensive glass. Croatian guard Paolo Marinelli (191-95) orchestrated the victory by scoring 16 points and 8 assists. Croatian Dino Cinac (201-88, agency: PEPI SPORT) contributed with 16 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Power forward Jure Besedic (207-92) replied with 14 points and 8 rebounds and Bosnian-Serbian swingman Nikola Gajic (195-91, college: SF Austin) added 16 points in the effort for Helios Suns. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Krka is looking forward to face Ilirija (#10) in Ljubljana in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Helios Suns will play on the road against Hopsi Polzela (#9) and are hoping to win this game.
