Regular Season Round 5: Perlas - Telsiai 78-72

Leader Perlas delivered the fourth victory on Friday night. This time they beat 7th ranked Telsiai (2-2) 78-72 in Vilnius. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Telsiai. Power forward Einaras Tubutis (207-98) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 14 rebounds for the winners and guard Karolis Giedraitis (194-98) chipped in 19 points and 5 assists. Perlas' coach Arvydas Gronskis used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Juozas Balciunas (188-94, college: Trinity Christian) responded with 25 points and forward Ovidijus Kaminskis (195-91) scored 9 points. Perlas have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 4-1 record, which they share with Vytis and Suduva-Mantinga. Loser Telsiai dropped to the ninth position with two games lost. They share it with Neptunas-Akv.. Perlas will meet Jonava (#13) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Telsiai will play against Palanga (#4) and hope to secure a win.
