There was no surprise in Gargzdai where 13th ranked Taurages (1-4) was defeated by tenth ranked Gargzdu (3-2) 88-79 on Friday. Gargzdu looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Taurages was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was Vaidotas Peciukas (198-82, college: Hawaii) who scored 27 points and 6 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). Center Arvydas Kacinas (205-93) chipped in 12 points, 8 rebounds and 4 blocks. Four Gargzdu players scored in double figures. Point guard Tadas Sebeziovas (185-85) produced 21 points and forward Paulius Morkeliunas (201-85, college: LIU Brooklyn, agency: Octagon Europe) added 15 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the guests. Taurages' coach Edvardas Zemgulis rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Gargzdu moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Taurages lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the twelfth position with four games lost. Gargzdu will face Ereliai Mazeikiai (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Taurages will play against KTU and hope to win that game.
