Regular Season Round 3: Mykolaiv - Politekhnik 72-65

The game between closely ranked teams ended with Mykolaiv's (1-2) home victory over Politekhnik (0-4) 72-65. It looked good early as Politekhnik took a 2-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Mykolaiv had a 22-17 second period charge getting the lead and Politekhnik was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 65-72. Mykolaiv dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Politekhnik's 34. It was a great evening for swingman Anton Musiyenko (192-97, agency: AgainHello) who led his team to a victory scoring 14 points and 6 rebounds. Center Konstantin Anikenko (218-92) helped adding 10 points and 7 rebounds. Four Mykolaiv players scored in double figures. Mykolaiv's coach Vitaliy Cherniy allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was American guard Gokul Natesan (196-94, college: Colorado Mines, agency: Haylett Sports) with 15 points and 4 assists and guard Roman Kozlov (190-90) scored 15 points. Mykolaiv will play against Dnipro at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Politekhnik will play against Zaporizhye (#1) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
