Regular Season Round 6: ALBA Berlin II - Stade 85-107

There was no surprise in Berlin where 12th ranked ALBA-2 (1-5) was crushed by ninth ranked Stade (3-2) 107-85 on Saturday. Stade dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to ALBA-2's 28. Stade forced 28 ALBA-2 turnovers and outrebounded them 41-25 including 28 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. The best player for the winners was swingman Janis Stielow (193-95) who had a double-double by scoring 25 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). Spanish point guard Francesc Iturria (180-96, college: Culver Stockton) chipped in 19 points, 8 assists and 6 steals. Five Stade players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Erik Penteker (183-2) who recorded 21 points and 4 assists and Evans Rapieque (193-2) added 12 points and 7 assists respectively. ALBA-2's coach gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Stade moved-up to sixth place in North. ALBA-2 lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fourteenth position with five games lost. Stade will face league's leader Wolmirstedt at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. ALBA-2 will play against Neustadt TSV (#11) and hope to win that game.
