Regular Season Round 4: Crailsheim - Jena 101-78

Date: October 20, 2018
Crailsheim Merlins can celebrate their first win this season after three consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Science City Jena (1-2) 101-78 on Saturday. Crailsheim Merlins looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Australian swingman Ben Madgen (193-85, college: Augusta) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and American point guard Frank Turner (178-88, college: Canisius, agency: Inception Sports) who added 19 points and 6 assists during the contest. Five Crailsheim Merlins players scored in double figures. At the losing side American point guard Dru Joyce (185-85, college: Akron) responded with 10 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and Nigerian guard Ike Iroegbu (188-95, college: Washington St.) scored 14 points and 4 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Crailsheim Merlins (1-3) left bottom position moving up to thirteenth place, which they share with Vechta. Loser Science City Jena dropped to the eleventh position with two games lost. They share it with Fraport SKY. Crailsheim Merlins will meet higher ranked BG Goettingen (#7) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Science City Jena will play against Telekom Baskets (#5) and hope to win that game.
