Regular Season Round 3: Academic Sofia - Balkan 74-87

Academic Sofia (2-1) recorded a loss at the home court. Hosts were defeated by Balkan (2-1) 87-74. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Brandon Brown (186-89, college: Montana-West) who led the winners and scored 14 points and 5 assists. His fellow American import forward Mikael Hopkins (206-93, college: Georgetown) accounted for 8 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side. Center Tsvetomir Chernokozhev (208-0) came up with 16 points and 8 rebounds and Nikolay Grozev (200-94) added 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Academic Sofia in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Balkan will play against Levski Lukoil in Sofia in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Academic Sofia will play on the road against Beroe in Stara Zagora and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
