Regular Season Round 6: Mainz - Tuebingen II 86-65

There was an upset when higher ranked Tuebingen II (3-2) was rolled over on the road by twelfth ranked Mainz (2-3) 86-65 on Saturday. Mainz made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was naturalized American point guard Anish Sharda (188-82, college: St.Mary's, KS) who scored 32 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field). American point guard Kewan Beebe (183-93, college: Geneseo St.) chipped in 10 points and 5 rebounds. Mainz's coach Christian Zander felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was Rouven Hanig who recorded a double-double by scoring 28 points and 17 rebounds and point guard Niklas Schueler (183-97) added 11 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Mainz moved-up to ninth place in South-West, which they share with 3 other teams. Tuebingen II at the other side keeps the fourth position with two games lost. Mainz will face HAKRO Merlins II (#13) in Crailsheim in the next round. Tuebingen II will play at home against Fellbach (#12) and hope to win that game.
