Regular Season Round 6: Jonava - Perlas 85-82

NKL round 6 caused change at the leadership position. Second defeat of league's leader Perlas (4-2) against thirteenth ranked Jonava (2-4) 85-82 was the most important game of the last round. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Perlas. Jonava made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. They also forced 21 Perlas turnovers. It was a good game for American guard Troy Franklin (183-89, college: Coppin St.) who led his team to a victory with 19 points, 5 assists and 5 steals. The other American import guard Davaunta Thomas (196-95, college: Ark.-Fort Smith) contributed with 18 points and 5 assists for the winners. Thomas is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Guard Karolis Giedraitis (194-98) replied with 28 points (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and Azuolas Tubelis (202-2) added 15 points in the effort for Perlas. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Perlas' coach Arvydas Gronskis tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Jonava moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Ereliai Mazeikiai and Taurages. Perlas at the other side dropped to the third position with two games lost. They share it with Silute. They were replaced at the leadership position by Suduva-Mantinga. Perlas will play next round against strong Vytis trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Jonava will try to continue on its current victory against eleventh ranked Ereliai Mazeikiai at home.
