Regular Season Round 7: Neptunas - Juventus 81-70

LKL top team - Neptunas (6-1) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat eighth ranked Juventus (2-5) in Klaipeda 81-70. It looked good early as Juventus took a 2-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Neptunas had a 23-17 second period charge getting the lead and Juventus was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 70-81. Neptunas made 18-of-22 charity shots (81.8 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Juventus 44-24 including a 32-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a quality performance for Osvaldas Olisevicius (200-93) who led the winners and scored 15 points and 9 rebounds. American point guard Lorenzo Williams (187-84, college: Rice) accounted for 13 points and 7 assists for the winning side. Four Neptunas players scored in double figures. Center Karolis Guscikas (205-92, agency: Octagon Europe) came up with 14 points and 6 rebounds and American guard Kenny Gaines (190-94, college: Georgia) added 18 points respectively for Juventus in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Neptunas have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain first place with 6-1 record, which they share with Zalgiris. Juventus lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with five games lost. They share it with Nevezis. Neptunas will play against bottom-ranked Siauliai (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Juventus will play against Nevezis and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
