Regular Season Round 6: Eimsbuetteler - Westerstede 105-77

There was a minor upset in Hamburg where 13th ranked Westerstede (1-5) was crushed by fifteenth ranked ETV (2-5) 105-77 on Sunday. ETV dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Westerstede's 46. ETV forced 30 Westerstede turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Westerstede's players. The best player for the winners was Lithuanian guard Vidmantas Uzkuraitis (189-85) who scored 23 points, 6 rebounds, 9 assists and 5 steals. American guard Tyseem Lyles (188, college: Mercy) chipped in 30 points. ETV's coach Sukran Gencay felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was Marcello Schroeder (195-87) who recorded a double-double by scoring 19 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and point guard Piet Niehus (189-98) added 21 points respectively. Five ETV and four Westerstede players scored in double figures. ETV moved-up to thirteenth place in North. Westerstede at the other side dropped to the fourteenth position with five games lost. ETV will face league's second-placed Goetting.ASC in Goettingen in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Westerstede will play at home against WSG Koenigs (#5) and hope to win that game.
