Regular Season Round 2: P.Olimpija - Hopsi Polzela 98-95

A very interesting game took place in Ljubljana. It ended with only three-point defeat on the road of Hopsi Polzela (0-2) to P.Olimpija (1-1) 98-95 on Sunday evening. It looked good early as Hopsi Polzela took a 3-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then P.Olimpija had a 30-22 second period charge getting the lead and Hopsi Polzela was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 95-98. P.Olimpija players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists. The best player for the winners was Bosnian swingman Aleksandar Lazic (203-96, agency: BeoBasket) who scored 19 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Point guard Jan Span (189-92, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 20 points, 6 assists and 7 steals. P.Olimpija's coach Zoran Martic allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American forward Austin Burgett (206-93, college: Notre Dame) produced 22 points and his fellow American import point guard Casey Benson (190-95, college: Grand Canyon) added 17 points and 5 assists respectively for the guests. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. P.Olimpija's next round opponent will be Sentjur (#4) on the road. Hopsi Polzela will play against Helios Suns (#5) and hope to win that game.
