Regular Season Round 7: Zalgiris - Dzukija 88-75

Very expected game in Kaunas where 7th ranked Dzukija (2-4) was defeated by second ranked Zalgiris (6-1) 88-75. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Zalgiris's pressure prevailed and they won that period 24-16 extending their advantage to 13 points. They made 21-of-26 charity shots (80.8 percent) during the game. It was a very good performance for American center Brandon Davies (208-91, college: BYU, agency: BeoBasket) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 5 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Thomas Walkup (193-92, college: SF Austin) contributed with 12 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. The former international power forward Egidijus Dimsa (205-85) answered with 12 points and 8 rebounds and American-German center Waverly Austin (211-91, college: Oregon, agency: Octagon Europe) added 13 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Dzukija. Five Zalgiris and four Dzukija players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Neptunas. Dzukija at the other side keeps the seventh place with four games lost. Zalgiris' next round opponent will be Lietkabelis (#4) in Panevezys. Dzukija will play at home against Prienu Skycop and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
