Regular Season Round 7: KTU - Zalgiris II 64-85

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Kaunas: Zalgiris II (#6) and KTU (#8). KTU was crushed at home by 21 points 64-85 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Zalgiris II forced 19 KTU turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Zalgiris II made 9 blocks. It was a great evening for guard Rokas Jokubaitis (192-0) who led his team to a victory scoring 15 points and 5 assists. Forward Erikas Venskus (205-0) helped adding 15 points. Four Zalgiris II players scored in double figures. At the losing side Julius Liesis (195-99) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and Karolis Sapiega (196-99) scored 16 points and 8 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Zalgiris II (4-2) moved-up to fourth place. KTU at the other side dropped to the ninth position with four games lost. They share it with Jonava and Gargzdu. Zalgiris II are looking forward to face Gargzdu (#10) in Gargzdai in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. KTU will play on the road against the league's leader Vytis in Sakiai and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
