Regular Season Round 7: Gargzdu - Neptunas-Akv. 82-90

There was a small surprise in Gargzdai where tenth ranked Neptunas-Akv. (3-3) defeated 7th ranked Gargzdu (3-4) 90-82 on Friday. Neptunas-Akv. dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Gargzdu's 30. They outrebounded Gargzdu 48-25 including a 16-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. Gargzdu was plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for guard Erikas Kubilius (194-95) who led his team to a victory scoring 18 points and 9 rebounds. Tadas Pazera (194-98) helped adding 17 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. At the losing side Rokas Simkevicius (189-90) responded with 13 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and the former international point guard Arvydas Eitutavicius (188-82, college: American) scored 19 points. Four Gargzdu players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Neptunas-Akv. moved-up to eighth place. Newly promoted Gargzdu dropped to the ninth position with four games lost. Neptunas-Akv. will face Delikatesas (#12) in Joniskis in the next round. Gargzdu will play on the road against Zalgiris II in Kaunas and hope to win that game.
