Regular Season Round 7: Westerstede - Wusterhausen 88-73

There was an upset when higher ranked WSG Koenigs (4-3) lost on the road to fifteenth ranked Westerstede (2-5) 88-73 on Saturday. Westerstede had a 33-22 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a very good performance for Marcello Schroeder (195-87) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 29 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists (made all of his eight free throws). Point guard Piet Niehus (189-98) contributed with 15 points and 6 assists for the winners. Four Westerstede players scored in double figures. Forward Christoph Tetzner (201-81) answered with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 11 rebounds and point guard Alexander Giese (180-94) added 9 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for WSG Koenigs. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Westerstede moved-up to thirteenth place in North. Loser WSG Koenigs keep the fifth position with three games lost. Westerstede will face league's second-placed Goetting.ASC in Goettingen in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. WSG Koenigs will play at home against Rendsburg and hope to win that game.
