Regular Season Round 8: Siauliai - Neptunas 88-98

Leader Neptunas delivered the seventh victory. This time they beat bottom-ranked Siauliai (0-8) 98-88. It looked good early as Siauliai took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Neptunas had a 30-18 second period charge getting the lead and Siauliai was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 88-98. Neptunas forced 19 Siauliai turnovers. Strangely Siauliai outrebounded Neptunas 40-24 including a 19-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Neptunas especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 58.8 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. Siauliai was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American point guard Lorenzo Williams (187-84, college: Rice) orchestrated the victory by scoring 27 points, 9 assists and 5 steals. Power forward Simas Galdikas (203-87) contributed with 18 points for the winners. Four Neptunas players scored in double figures. Power forward Antanas Udras (203-92, agency: Octagon Europe) replied with 18 points and 7 rebounds and Ignas Vaitkus (196-93, agency: Octagon Europe) added 16 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Siauliai. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Neptunas (7-1) have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position, which they share with Zalgiris. Siauliai at the other side still closes the standings with eight games lost. Neptunas will play against Rytas (#3) in Vilnius in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Siauliai will play at home against the league's second-placed Zalgiris (#2) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
